Your Nervous System Is Reacting Like
Work Is Dangerous

Your heart races before meetings. Your mind goes blank when asked a question. Your chest tightens when you see your manager's name.

This isn't normal work stress.

This is your nervous system reacting like work is a threat.

Logically, you know you're competent. But your body is reacting like the meeting is dangerous.

This often happens when there's been a past incident - public criticism, a meeting that went wrong, a boss who undermined you - that your nervous system hasn't fully processed.

Your body remembers, even when your mind has moved on.

How We Work Together

We'll assess whether this is an ongoing anxiety pattern or if there's a specific incident that intensified it.

For ongoing anxiety:   We use psychotherapy to understand what your nervous system is reacting to, learn to recognize early warning signs, build practical tools for regulating your nervous system in the moment, and challenge the beliefs driving the anxiety.

For a anxiety with a trigger:   Sometimes workplace anxiety intensified after a specific incident - redundancy, toxic boss, a presentation that went wrong, public criticism, workplace bullying. If there's a specific incident your body is still reacting to, we can use EMDR to process it so it stops triggering the anxiety response.

Often it's both: You've always been somewhat anxious at work, AND there was a specific moment that made it significantly worse. We can address both.

You don't need to figure out which category you're in. That's what the free consultation is for.

What to Expect

First session:  We assess what's driving the anxiety. Ongoing pattern, specific trigger, or both?

Ongoing sessions: You'll understand what your nervous system is reacting to. You'll get practical tools to use immediately when anxiety shows up. We'll work on the deeper patterns keeping the anxiety alive.

Timeline:  Depends on your situation. If there's a specific trigger, EMDR might resolve it in 6-8 sessions. Broader anxiety work typically takes 12-20 sessions.

Why I Understand Workplace Anxiety

I've felt the physical reaction before walking into a meeting. I've replayed conversations for hours, analysing what I said wrong. I've experienced what it's like when your nervous system treats work as a threat.

After 25 years in corporate, I understand the specific anxiety of professional life.

The fear of being exposed. The hypervigilance about making mistakes. The exhaustion of always being "on."

This isn't general anxiety. It's the specific pressure of professional environments.

And that's what I specialise in.

Questions About Workplace Anxiety Therapy

Q: Can therapy help if I've always been anxious at work?

Yes. Even if workplace anxiety has been there for years, it can shift. The fact that it's longstanding just means the pattern is deeply embedded. But patterns can change.

Q: What if I can't pinpoint what I'm anxious about?

You don't need to. Often, workplace anxiety is your nervous system responding to accumulated pressure, not a specific identifiable threat. We can still work with it.

Q: Will I need to confront my manager or colleagues?

No. This is about changing your internal response, not changing external circumstances. Though sometimes, once your anxiety reduces, you do find yourself naturally setting boundaries you couldn't before.

Q: Do you accept private medical insurance?

Yes. I'm registered with Vitality, AXA Health, Aviva,  and WPA. Many professionals have their sessions fully covered through their employer's health insurance scheme. I provide detailed invoices and treatment summaries for insurance claims.
