Why I Understand the Pressure of Professional Life
Based in West Yorkshire |
Working Online Across the UK
Twenty-five years in corporate taught me what textbooks don't say about professional pressure.
I've been the one responsible for hitting impossible targets while managing a team who looked to me like I had all the answers.
I've sat in meetings feeling like the only person who didn't know what was going on, while appearing calm and competent.
I've felt the weight of imposter syndrome in rooms full of people who seemed more certain than I felt.
I've delivered redundancies knowing I was about to devastate someone's life.
And I've experienced what it's like when a boss undermines you so consistently that even years later, certain phrases make your chest tighten.
That last one changed everything.
My Turning Point
After 25 years at companies like American Express and FedEx, in sales, leadership, and team management, I thought I understood pressure.
But there's a difference between pressure and what happens when something specific shifts inside you.
Pressure is the weight of responsibility. What I experienced was the moment that weight became too much to carry in the way I'd been carrying it.
Traditional therapy helped me understand where it came from. It gave me insight, context, patterns. That was valuable.
But it didn't stop the reaction. It didn't make my chest stop tightening when I heard certain phrases. It didn't quiet the voice that said I wasn't good enough.
That's when I discovered EMDR. And that's why, eventually, I retrained as a psychotherapist.
Because I wanted to offer what I needed but couldn't find: someone who understood the corporate world from the inside, and who knew that understanding your anxiety isn't always enough to shift it.
My Approach to Therapy
Clients often tell me they value that I'm direct, warm, and always have a clear plan.
I don't believe in open-ended therapy with no direction. Every session moves you forward. You'll always know what we're working on and why.
I combine psychotherapy for deeper patterns, EMDR for specific incidents that won't let go, and coaching for practical strategies and forward momentum.
You're not locked into one approach. We use what fits your situation.
Most importantly: I recommend what I think will actually help, not what's convenient for me to deliver. If EMDR isn't right for your situation, I'll tell you.
If you need a different kind of support than I offer, I'll point you in the right direction.
This is about what you need, not what I want to sell.

But more than the qualifications, I bring lived experience, corporate understanding, and a genuine commitment to helping professionals reclaim their wellbeing.
What's it like to work with a therapist who has corporate experience?
I understand the specific pressure of professional environments. The imposter syndrome. The perfectionism. The exhaustion of always being "on."
I know what it's like to appear capable on the outside while struggling inside. I've lived in the environments my clients are navigating.
That means you don't have to explain why missing a target feels devastating, or why you can't switch off your mind at night, or why asking for support feels like failure.
I already know. Because I've felt it too.
Why I work online across the UK
I work exclusively online. This means:
-
Accessible across the UK - You don't need to be in West Yorkshire. London, Manchester, anywhere.
-
No commute - Sessions fit around your schedule without adding another thing to your day.
-
Research-backed - Online therapy is as effective as in-person. Online EMDR uses self-administered tapping or audio instead of eye movements, with the same results.
-
Affordable - You get specialist support without London price tags.
-
Sustainable for me - I can maintain quality and avoid burnout, which means I'm fully present for your sessions.
